The PCC U Course - Encountering God in Scripture
“The Bible is not only a book which was once spoken,” writes A. W. Tozer, “but a book which is now speaking … If you would follow on to know the Lord, come at once to the open Bible expecting it to speak to you. Do not come with the notion that it is a thing which you can push around at your convenience.” Jesus (the Living Word) longs to meet with each one of us, and will often do so through Scripture (the Written Word). How can we read the Bible with open hearts and minds, without “pushing it around” and interpreting it to fit our agendas? Christians for the last two millennia have testified that it is possible to genuinely encounter God in His word through two interrelated practices: Scripture STUDY and Scripture MEDIATION. In this morning workshop, we’ll use teaching, group discussion, interactive practice, and even a little music to learn more about study and mediation—how they are different, why they need each other, and how the combination of the two can lead us into genuine encounter with the Living God.
