GO FUND ME CAMPAIGNBRINGING BRITA HOME It is not often (perhaps, never) that we, as a staff and leadership team, bring a GO FUND ME CAMPAIGN to your attention … but this situation is tragic and pulls at the heartstrings of those in our congregation who are well acquainted with Sandy & Brita Colera! Sandy & Brita have been involved with the Alliance Church for many years. They were involved with Peace Portal Alliance when Pastor Jon was on staff there. In 2014 they, along with their three daughters, moved from White Rock to the Okanagan. Sandy is now the Lead Pastor at Lake Country Alliance. Anyone who knows Brita and Sandy knows they are incredible human beings who love and care for others extremely well! And now it’s our turn to care for them! On January 9, 2021 (the day after Brita’s 41st birthday), while skiing with her family at Silver Star Brita was in a serious accident that has left her with significant injuries; Brita is currently a paraplegic. She does have movement in her left arm and over the past month she has gained some movement in her right. She is currently being cared for at GF Strong and Sandy is commuting from the Okanagan in an attempt to support Brita in Vancouver and his three young daughters in Lake Country. The way Brita and Sandy have chosen to respond to this accident with gratitude that Brita's life was spared, and that she has her full mind is beyond inspiring. Their faith is strong and Brita’s SWEET SPIRIT continues to shine through, despite the suffering she is experiencing. BUT, this tragic accident all comes at a cost. And we are bringing this to your attention to simply ask if you would consider helping this family? The doctor has advised that the Coleras will need to do the following to care for Brita properly: 1. Make short term modifications to their current home, 2. Purchase and move into a fully accessible home, 3. Purchase or adapt their current vehicle to maintain their ability to travel as a family and for Brita to be able to drive, which will allow her to have as much independence as possible. If you would like to help support this family, you can do so using the following link: BRINGING BRITA HOME - GO FUND ME PAGE For those who are interested in further exploration of the Colera family’s new reality, please watch the following link: VIDEO: OUTLINE OF WHAT HAPPENED As, well, the following is the link to Brita's interview with Global News. Tracey Dickie, from Peace Portal Alliance has set up this Go Fund Me Campaign. When she told Brita what she was doing, Brita was open to the help but wanted each person to know that their prayers were equally as important as any financial contribution. This is a family that prays! So please pray with them and for then! Updates on Brita's situation will be posted on the Go Fund Me Page. Thank you for loving them, for caring for them and for praying for them! |

C&MA Connection
It is official. I have a new title. I am now a Designated Caregiver. I happened upon this role by accident. I was told that my mom’s long-term care facility was in lockdown, which meant no visitors at any time! As I was trying to find a way to see her, the administrator at my mom’s home said, “Why don’t you become a Designated Caregiver?” I applied, and after completing the required online training and providing a negative COVID-19 test, I was finally able to be with my mom. It reminded me of an article I read a few years ago that talked about the way organizers of the Special Olympics ensured that each athlete would receive encouragement. At the finish line of every event there were individuals known as Designated Huggers. Their job was to call out the winners, encourage each competitor throughout the race, and hug each participant as they crossed the finish line. I long to call out to my mom and let her know she is a winner and encourage her as she runs this last course of her race until she crosses the finish line to be with Jesus – and this is my opportunity! MEAL TRAIN
Alex and Charlotte Toney are having a baby (only a few weeks away)! As we all know, adjusting to a baby in the home is exhausting and there will be days when there is no time to cook or even eat. Let’s help make those tough days just a little easier by providing a meal so that Alex & Charlotte can keep their focus on caring for their baby! If you would also like to bless them with a baby gift you can visit their baby registry here! |
Growth Groups
Here at Pacific we are committed to providing avenues for every person in our church to connect with others. One of the primary ways that we aim to provide means for connection to occur organically is through Growth Groups, which are small groups that help us grow in Christ and in community with each other. Our Growth Groups will have Christmas, Spring and Summer breaks and to ensure that all people at PCC have the tremendous opportunity to connect with each other, we need both group leaders and hosts. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Pastor Prince at Pastor Prince's Email or register here to lead or host a group! |
