Day 1 - Longing
“The longing of my heart and my prayer to God is that the Jewish people might be saved.” (Romans 10:1)
The Apostle Paul longed for his own people to be saved. Ask God to give you a burden (or increase the burden you already have) for the people in your life to be saved (friends, family, coworkers, acquaintances, etc.). Ask Him to also give you a burden for those you don’t know (E.g., politicians, an unreached people group around the world).
Make a list of those God brings to mind, and make it your prayer to God that they might be saved.
Day 2 - Revealed Truth
“Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6)
Ask God to reveal this truth to the people you’re praying for, both those you love and those you’ve never met. Ask Him to make them disillusioned with their current religion (or lack thereof) and let them feel the hopelessness and futility of their own efforts to be good enough so that they will begin to seek for assurance. Pray that they will find Jesus and place their faith in Him as the only way to reach God.
Day 3 - Illumination
The Apostle Paul testified that, at his conversion, Jesus told him, “I am going to send you to the Gentiles, to open their eyes so they may turn from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.” (Acts 26:17b-18)
Ask God to show you to whom He wants to send you to in order to share the message of Jesus.
Pray for the lost people in your life, asking Jesus to open their eyes to see that they are in darkness and under Satan’s power, so that they may turn to light and to God. Pray that they will receive His forgiveness and take their place among God’s people.
Pray the same thing for the unreached people amongst whom our international workers are ministering.
Day 4 - Drawn to Jesus
Jesus said, “For people can’t come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them from the dead.” (John 6:44)
“God saved you by his special favour when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.” (Ephesians 2:8)
Recognize that you cannot save anyone, nor can they save themselves; they will only come to Jesus as the Father draws them. Praise Him for his grace in your life!
Think of the people in your life who do not yet follow Jesus. Ask the Father to draw them to Jesus.
Pray the same for the unreached people amongst whom our international workers are ministering.
Day 5 - Opportunities & Courage
“Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? (Romans 10:13-14)
Think of the people you’re praying for to become followers of Jesus, both those you know and those you don’t. Ask God to give each of them at least one opportunity to hear the good news about Jesus.
Pray for an opportunity and the courage to tell someone about Jesus this week.
Day 6 - Increased Influence
“Don’t forget to pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to preach … Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should.” (Colossians 4:3-4)
Pray that all of us at PCC will have many opportunities to introduce people to Jesus, and that we will communicate the gospel clearly.
Pray especially that our international workers, who are working in their second or third languages, will present the gospel clearly.
Day 7 - Guidance
“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our distress. For we don’t even know what we should pray for, nor how we should pray. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.” (Romans 8:26-27)
Sometimes we don’t even know how to pray for the lost people in our lives. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as you pray.
When you run out of words, ask the Spirit to pray for them because He will pray exactly what they need in harmony with God’s will.
